  • “Basic emergency care” means care which includes assessing life-threatening and nonlife-threatening medical conditions, establishing and maintaining a patient’s airway and ventilation, rendering cardiopulmonary resuscitation, controlling bleeding, treating shock and poisoning, dressing and bandaging wounds, splinting fractures, giving emergency obstetrical assistance and caring for newborn infants and executing appropriate rescue and extrication procedures.
