  • “Volunteer service” means a service approved by the Health Division for the operation of any ambulance or other motor vehicle for the purpose of transporting sick or injured persons or dead bodies without compensation other than reimbursements to defray the actual expenses of providing the service. A “volunteer service” may be wholly or partly subsidized and may be operated under the auspices of a governmental or public agency or an industrial or nonprofit corporation.
