  • “Coefficient of variation,” abbreviated as “C,” means the ratio of the standard deviation to the mean value of a population of observations. It is estimated using the following equation:

         where

    s    =   Estimated standard deviation of the population.

         =  Mean value of observations in sample.

    Xi  =   ith observation in sample.

    n   =   Number of observations in sample.
