NAC477.222. “Standpipe system” defined.

Latest version.
  • “Standpipe system” means an arrangement of piping, valves, hose connections and related equipment installed in a building or structure with the hose connections located in such a manner that water can be discharged in streams and spray patterns through attached hoses and nozzles, for the purposes of extinguishing a fire and protecting a building or structure, its contents and its occupants. A standpipe system may be connected to a system which supplies water, or uses pumps, tanks or other equipment necessary to provide an adequate supply of water to the hose connections. For the purposes of this chapter, a standpipe system which is used in combination with an automatic fire sprinkler system retains its characterization as a standpipe system.
