NAC484D.090. Service brake: Performance standards.

  •      1. Every motor vehicle and combination of vehicles, under all conditions of loading, upon application of the service brake, must be capable of:

         (a) Stopping from a speed of 20 mph in the distance tabulated in subsection 2 for its classification without swerving out of a 12-foot-wide lane;

         (b) Developing a braking force on each front and rear wheel that is within 20 percent of the braking force on the opposite front or rear wheel;

         (c) Developing a braking force that is not less than the percentage of its gross weight tabulated in subsection 2 for its classification;

         (d) Decelerating to a stop at not less than the feet per second per second tabulated in subsection 2 for its classification; and

         (e) Stopping in not more than the distance tabulated in subsection 2 for its classification and initial speed, with the distance measured from the point at which movement of the service brake pedal or control begins.

         2. The required braking forces, decelerations and braking distances are:
