  •      1. The emblem must be tested in conformance with the following sections from SAE J575, Tests for Motor Vehicle Lighting Devices and Components:

         (a) Section B—Samples for tests;

         (b) Section D—Laboratory facilities;

         (c) Section E—Vibration test; and

         (d) Section H—Corrosion test which pertains to face of emblem only.

         2. Samples must be exposed to the sun at an angle of 45 degrees to horizontal and facing south per ASTM International, ASTM D1014, Conducting Exterior Exposure Tests of Paints on Steel. The periods of time for such tests are:

         3. Each test sample must be dropped from a height of 5 feet (1.53 m) to a smooth hard surface equivalent to rigid metal or concrete. Each test sample must be submitted to three drop tests: corner drop, edge drop and flat drop. Failure occurs when the emblem will no longer meet the requirements in NAC 484D.265.
