NAC484D.115. Inspection and testing.

Latest version.
  •      1. An inspection of a vehicle or combination of vehicles may be performed in accordance with the provisions of NRS 484D.560.

         2. An inspection to determine if a vehicle or combination of vehicles complies with standards established by NAC 484D.010 to 484D.120, inclusive, may be performed by means of visual examination, physical manipulation, driving test, inertia-type brake tester (decelerometer), drive-on-and-stop or roller-type brake testing machine, or by other measurement.

         3. Driving tests for equality of braking must be made on a substantially level, dry, smooth, hard surface without a transverse slope and free from loose material.

         4. Driving tests for deceleration and stopping distance must be made on a level grade, not to exceed plus or minus 1 percent, and a dry, smooth, hard surface that is free from loose material.

         5. Brake tests conducted with inertia-type brake testers must be invalidated when the driver manipulates the service brake control in a manner so that there is a sudden increase in braking force near the end of the stop. Severe impact application on the service brake control in any brake test is cause for invalidation.

         6. An inspection may not be limited in scope to any inspection procedure delineated in NAC 484D.010 to 484D.120, inclusive.
