NAC391.196. Endorsement to teach computer programming or computer science.

  • To receive an endorsement to teach computer programming or computer science in kindergarten through grade 12, a person must have a valid elementary, secondary or special license, a valid license to teach special education, or a valid license to teach middle school or junior high school education, and must complete:

         1. A program, which has been approved by the Board, for teaching computer programming or computer science; or

         2. Twelve semester hours in courses of study which include the following:

         (a) Methods for teaching the use of a computer or educational issues involved in the teaching of computers, or both;

         (b) Methods for teaching computer programming; and

         (c) Instruction in at least two computer languages.
